Description

We are seeking an experienced VAT Manager to lead indirect tax compliance and advisory activities across a technically complex UK business from a VAT perspective. This role offers the opportunity to work at the centre of a dynamic organisation, ensuring Indirect Tax obligations are managed effectively. This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical expertise, excellent stakeholder management skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across multiple business functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical review of UK and Irish VAT returns.
  • Preparation of VAT returns as required.
  • Ongoing assessment of any changes required to the VAT return procedure as a result of business and/or regulatory changes.
  • Managing VAT queries raised by the business.
  • Provision of technically accurate and commercially aware VAT advice that can be applied practically by the business.
  • VAT Subject Matter Expert for projects across the business, providing technical expertise and a framework for VAT compliant change.
  • Provision of VAT training to teams across the business.
  • Supporting the wider tax team in undertaking periodic review of direct tax statutory compliance filings, as and when required.
  • Working with the Head of Tax to maintain good working relationships with HMRC and external advisors.

To apply you will be a technically strong VAT professional who can translate complex VAT issues into practical business solutions. You will thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy building relationships across a broad range of stakeholders.  Ideally you will hold the Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification or equivalent and be working at manager level in an in-house function or within a leading professional services firm.  The company works on a hybrid basis with the expectation of three days a week minimum to be spent in the office.
