Let’s be honest it’s a big move to make from the UK and not one for the faint hearted but does that really matter when the sights and sounds of Sydney Harbour are on your doorstep??

INVESTMENT DIRECTOR: Impact investment venture, developing world, Uganda – $18,000 + profit share (Initially 12 month fixed term)

This is one of the most exciting and rare opportunities in the market right now, a chance to build a venture from the ground up with a hugely impressive and interesting organisation. But do you have the passion needed for this?

That may seem a strange question, but do the facts challenge your motivations?: you would need to grow an investment vehicle from the ground up in one of the more challenging commercial environments in the world, you would be charged with scaling up ‘micro businesses’ rather than established enterprises, and you would be paid a ‘local’ salary far below what you may be used to.  Still interested? Still passionate?

If so, then keep reading…

Founded in the UK 6 years ago, this impact investment venture have now moved beyond the ‘start-up’ phase into one of the fastest growing social enterprises in the market. They are now a multi-million Pound social enterprise with staff numbers in the dozens.

However their work is ‘start up’ by nature; they financially and strategically support budding entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia to unlock their potential and scale up their businesses into SMEs.  The results they have delivered have been exceptional, and they have helped over 1500 entrepreneurs in 7 countries on 3 continents.

They now seek an Investment Director for a new fund in Uganda – designed to identify the most exceptional ‘informal sector’ entrepreneurs, offer funding and ongoing technical support and help deliver exceptional growth.

This is a rare opportunity to manage and grow a venture from the ground-up. You will build and execute growth strategies for the portfolio of investees, manage and build a team and devise the overall strategy for the venture itself.

To be considered you will need:

  • significant experience working in emerging markets
  • some investment experience
  • some contribution to scaling up or growing successful businesses
  • experience of building successful commercial relationships
  • proven ability to identify opportunities
  • an analytical and strategic skillset

If you genuinely feel you have the right skillset and motivation for this opportunity then please send your CV through to Tariq at
