This global brand is looking for a Senior Excise & Customs Analyst for the EMEA region – there is flexibility on location including UK (Surrey or North-West), Netherlands (Schiphol) or Poland (Warsaw).  The candidate will be responsible for the management of excise tax compliance control frameworks for the group businesses in the EMEA region and customs compliance tasks. The EMEA Senior Excise & Customs Analyst will work closely with the businesses to address risks to leverage excise and customs opportunities, to support the development and implementation of control and compliance improvements, to contribute to responses to government inquiries and provide operational guidance and training.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the excise duty control framework for the EMEA region
  • Support excise tax planning, management and advisory initiatives
  • Provide advice to the businesses for tariff classification, customs valuation and origin determination:
  • Facilitate electronic filing of customs import, export, transit declarations and excise documentation

  • University Degree including professional certification and/or equivalent relevant experience in the areas of customs and excise gained with a Big 4 accounting firm, major law firm or multinational company or as an excise specialist in a government department
  • Relevant professional experience of 3-5 years in the EMEA region
  • Experienced in managing relationships with customs authorities and/or other relevant government agencies in several

great new in-house role with a global leader in its field.  They are looking for a part or fully qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA VAT Accountant to take responsibility for UK and European VAT compliance with a key focus on driving VAT accounting process/system improvements.

Specifically this will include:

  • As a key VAT reporting control sole responsibility for maintaining and clearing VAT general ledgers ensuring integrity and accuracy of those accounts for management as well as Tax Authority reporting purposes.
  • Reconcile VAT and statistical returns to each other and the balance sheet.
  • Solely responsible for preparing the monthly group tax management reporting reconciliations for VAT GLs across EMEA for Group Finance colleagues.
  • Prepare reconciliations of P&L sales revenue to VAT reported revenue on a quarterly basis and as part of year end and statutory audit processes.
  • Produce accurate periodic UK VAT Group and EMEA VAT registration returns and declarations.

  • Prepare Tax Authority error disclosures.
  • Manage workflow VAT approvals for AR and AP invoicing and events set up.
  • Supporting the EMEA VAT manager with internal and external VAT audits and ad-hoc projects.
