EUROPEAN VAT MANAGER: CONTRACT, West Midlands – £Appropriate

  • Great new role in for an experienced Indirect Tax specialist to come in and advise this industrial products and services company on VAT matters
  • The role will span advisory work across Europe and reviewing and standardising processes across Europe
  • This would suit someone with plenty of European VAT experience (likely gained in-house), and you will need to be senior and experienced enough to take the lead on reviewing their entire VAT set up, and action change where appropriate.

It’s probable that the assignment will last 4 – 9 months initially.

EMEA INDIRECT TAX MANAGER / SENIOR MANAGER: Commodities, London, £depending on experience

Great role in for someone with either experience or an interest in the complex world of commodity trading. Our client is a key player in global energy markets, and this role is a crucial hire for the business. You’ll need good practical experience of providing commercial VAT advice relating to European transactions, and some experience of tax automation/systems implementation. Reporting to the Global Indirect Tax lead, your brief will be to:

  • Provide Indirect tax support to the EMEA Trading business and operations across all commodities.
  • Indirect Tax support also for EMEA structured transactions and physical assets
  • Support the oversight and management of VAT compliance and related processes and controls across the group.  Pro-actively identify improvements and efficiencies in reporting and reconciliation of VAT/GST.
  • Manage relationships with key advisors and tax authorities across the region, including management of Tax audits.
  • Assist on global projects, including process improvement, implementation of new systems.

VAT ANALYST, Kent- to £49,000 + bens

An in-house vacancy has arisen for a VAT Analyst to take responsibility for UK and European VAT compliance with a key focus on driving VAT accounting process/system improvements. The role will work closely with Group Tax and Finance Teams and will report to the VAT Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and clearing VAT general ledgers ensuring integrity and accuracy of those accounts for management as well as Tax Authority reporting purposes.
  • Reconcile VAT and statistical returns to each other and the balance sheet.
  • Solely responsible for preparing the monthly group tax management reporting reconciliations for VAT GLs across EMEA for Group Finance colleagues.
  • Prepare reconciliations of P&L sales revenue to VAT reported revenue on a quarterly basis and as part of year end and statutory audit processes.
  • Produce accurate periodic UK VAT Group and EMEA VAT registration returns and declarations.
  • Create and post VAT journals to the balance sheet and approve VAT postings by Group Finance.
  • Work closely with accounting functions in management and operation of accounting systems to drive VAT process improvement.
  • Creation and approval of VAT coding matrixes for new events.
  • Create and maintain up-to date process documentation
  • Prepare Tax Authority error disclosures.
  • Manage workflow VAT approvals for AR and AP invoicing and events set up.
  • Supporting the EMEA VAT manager with internal and external VAT audits and ad-hoc projects.

To apply you will need to demonstrate the ability to manage and meet deadlines plus strong data analysis and VAT accounting skills. Ideally you will be part or fully qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA or CTA. Experience of UK VAT Group accounting with a working knowledge of cross-border VAT in Europe is required.
