HEAD OF TAX (VAT Major), Reading – £Available on request

Exceptional role for a VAT specialist with some corporate tax experience to take on the reins of the Head of Tax role for this group that owns several leading well-known and successful brands. You’ll be overseeing the tax affairs of the business, managing a great team and will be responsible for tax governance, the delivery of proactive and reactive tax advice to the business and maintaining the strong relationship with the authorities. You will need:

  • Experience of working in-house in an Indirect Tax role, preferably backed up by professional services firm training/experience.
  • A relevant professional qualification.
  • Good UK (and European) VAT skills.
  • Experience of managing other tax professionals.
  • To be around Senior Manager level (or equivalent in industry) in professional services firm terminology.
  • Some experience of Corporate Tax matters.

This is a high profile role within the business, so it will be important to demonstrate impact and influencing skills as well as a practical approach to problem solving. It goes without saying that the ability to handle complex tax matters (especially VAT) will be crucial, and you’ll need the ability to discuss these in ‘layman’s terms’ with key stakeholders.
