The recruitment market is showing encouraging signs of recovery, echoing much improved business sentiment and  positive reports of economic recovery. As a result, there is a real scarcity of talented Recruitment Consultants out there, and we are all fighting over a very small pool of candidates. Like many of our competitors, BLT and CSS are now actively recruiting. So if you are a Recruitment Consultant looking to move jobs, why should you consider BLT or CSS?

Diary of a Trainee Indirect Tax Recruitment Consultant – Tom Slater – 3rd Entry

After a week of being on holiday and away from the office this week I have been back…and away from the office!

Once more I stepped unto the breach of Indirect Tax recruitment and before I had time to get comfortable at my desk I was whisked away to meet clients in Birmingham which was then quickly followed by a two day training course at London Bridge. The RCC (Recruiter Core Competencies) course is designed to ensure recruiters get the best possible start and are able to develop a successful and profitable desk fast, and I can assure you I didn’t take that from their website!

The course enabled me and my fellow novice recruiters to develop basic key skills needed in the recruitment industry. Our interviewing abilities were refined as we learnt the art of open questioning and our ability to present candidates effectively was critiqued and improved. Our individual objectives had been set and they had been achieved.

By the time Friday came around I sat back at my desk invigorated and better equipped to find you a job/ fill your vacancy than when I had jetted off two weeks before. Now, time to make a cup of tea…

Liz’s 25 Years at BLT….

The BLT and CSS team had a great night out celebrating Liz’s 25th anniversary with the company. Liz really enjoyed sharing this landmark occasion with the team, although was somewhat dismayed to realise that some of her younger colleagues weren’t even born when she started work! She looks forward to the next 25 years ….

All Change at Kings Cross

Nicola will be attending the 2013 Summer Walk “All Change at Kings Cross” on Thursday 22nd August. The guided walk will talk through how London’s seediest areas has become the largest regeneration project in Europe which is set to rival the South Bank as the new cultural hot spot of the city.

New joiner

BLT’s Indirect Tax team is delighted to welcome a new addition to the team. Tom Slater is a recent graduate of Keele University and joins the team as Researcher/Executive Consultant – he looks forward to learning all there is to know about Indirect Tax (!) and to getting to know our clients and candidates over the coming years.


Though Caroline’s now left CSS/BLT, she hasn’t gone far and is definitely still involved in the world of corporate governance. She’s working on lots of different projects from events to training to consulting and many may be of interest to you so do get in touch with her on
